01 What Cookies Are
A cookie is a small text file that is placed on your device (computer, tablet, or smartphone) when you visit a website. Cookies allow the website to recognize your device on subsequent visits, remember your preferences, and improve your browsing experience.
In addition to cookies, modern websites also use similar technologies such as local storage, session storage, and pixel tags, all of which are addressed by this Policy. For simplicity, we refer to all of them as "cookies" throughout this document.
This Cookies Policy explains which cookies we use on www.prestigemove.pt, why we use them, how long they last, and how you can control them. It should be read together with our Privacy Policy.
02 Why We Use Cookies
We use cookies for a small number of clearly defined purposes:
- To make the website function correctly and securely
- To remember your language preference between visits
- To process payments through our payment partner Stripe
- To autocomplete addresses and calculate routes via Google Maps
- To understand, in an aggregated and anonymized way, how visitors use our website
- To remember whether you have accepted or rejected non-essential cookies
We do not use cookies for cross-site advertising, profiling for marketing purposes, or building behavioural profiles of our visitors. We do not sell any data collected by cookies.
03 Strictly Necessary Cookies
These cookies are essential to the operation of our website. Without them, services such as the booking form or secure payment would not function. They do not require your consent under EU law.
Examples include:
- Session identifiers used to maintain a secure connection between your browser and our server
- A cookie remembering whether you have dismissed the cookie consent banner
- A cookie remembering the current step of your booking, so a page refresh does not reset it
These cookies typically expire at the end of your browser session or within a few hours.
04 Functional Cookies
Functional cookies remember choices you have made on the website to improve your experience. They are placed only after you have given consent, or, where applicable, in reliance on our legitimate interest in delivering a basic level of personalization.
Examples include:
- The pm_lang local-storage entry that remembers your chosen language (English, Portuguese, French, German, Spanish, Dutch, Arabic) and applies it automatically on your next visit
- A preference for hiding the cookie consent banner once you have made a choice
These cookies typically last between thirty (30) days and twelve (12) months.
05 Analytics Cookies
Where we use analytics tools, we configure them to collect data in an anonymized form, with truncated IP addresses, and only after you have given consent. These cookies allow us to understand:
- How many people visit our website each day
- Which pages are most viewed
- How long visitors spend on each page
- The country and approximate region of origin
- The type of device and browser used
We use this information solely to improve the website and our services. We do not combine it with your booking data or identify you personally.
You may opt out of analytics cookies at any time by clearing your browser cookies or by adjusting your cookie preferences when the consent banner is shown.
06 Payment Cookies — Stripe
When you proceed to payment, our checkout flow redirects you to a page hosted by Stripe Payments Europe, Limited. Stripe sets a number of cookies on its own domain to:
- Prevent fraudulent payments
- Maintain a secure session during checkout
- Remember your card billing address (only if you tick the relevant box on the Stripe checkout)
These cookies are set by Stripe as an independent data controller. PRESTIGEMOVE does not have access to them. Stripe's cookies policy is available at stripe.com/cookies-policy.
07 Mapping Cookies — Google Maps
Our booking form uses Google Maps Platform to autocomplete addresses, calculate routes, and estimate travel times. Google may set cookies in your browser to:
- Limit the rate of API requests from any one device
- Detect and prevent abuse of the maps service
- Remember any preference you have set previously on a Google service (for example, your map language)
These cookies are set by Google as an independent data controller. Google's privacy and cookies notice is available at policies.google.com/technologies/cookies.
08 Third-Party Cookies
The cookies set by Stripe and Google described above are categorized as third-party cookies because they are set by domains other than www.prestigemove.pt. We do not control these cookies directly.
We carefully select third-party providers who maintain their own privacy and security standards, and we limit our use of third parties to those that are strictly necessary to deliver our service. We do not embed third-party advertising trackers, social-media pixels, or marketing-attribution scripts.
09 Cookie Duration
Cookies generally fall into two duration categories:
| Type | Duration | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| Session cookies | Until you close your browser | Secure session, booking progress |
| Short-lived persistent | 1 – 30 days | Consent banner, security tokens |
| Long-lived persistent | Up to 12 months | Language preference |
The exact duration of each cookie used on our site can be obtained on request by emailing privacy@prestigemove.pt.
10 Managing and Controlling Cookies
You have the right to accept or reject non-essential cookies at any time. You can manage cookies in the following ways:
- Through the consent banner shown on your first visit. Your choice is remembered for twelve (12) months, after which we ask again.
- Through your browser settings. All modern browsers allow you to view, manage, and delete cookies. Setting your browser to refuse all cookies may impact the functionality of our website, including the inability to complete a booking.

11 Do Not Track
Some browsers offer a "Do Not Track" (DNT) signal. There is no industry-wide consensus on how websites should respond to DNT signals. We currently treat a DNT signal as equivalent to refusing all non-essential cookies on the device sending the signal.
12 Changes to This Policy
We may update this Cookies Policy from time to time to reflect changes in technology, applicable law, or our practices. Any material change will be communicated by a banner on our website and, where appropriate, by an update to the revision date at the top of this page.
